Which Should I Use? 18-gauge or 20-gauge wire?

Manufacturers of electronic pet fences recommend using 20 gauge wire since their systems are designed for that. We ship all of our containment systems with Premium, Heavy-duty, 20 Gauge Wire. For an additional 500ft. of 18-Gauge with the system, we offer a WIREUPGRADE option, which can be purchased with any containment system. Please see wire guide below to determine which gauge of wire will be appropriate. Remember, 18 gauge wire is not available in the local pet store or pet supply catalog.

Use 20-Gauge if:
» For smooth, loose soil or clay
» If laying the wire next to a fence
» The yard has few trees or vegetation.

Use 18-Gauge if:
» Rocky soil
» If installing the wire above ground
» If yard has many trees
